In recognition and support of the exceptional efforts of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), Energen Solutions recently donated $5,000 to the not-for-profit organisation.

When help is needed in remote areas, the RFDS ensures that those in need receive the finest care available. They work tirelessly to bring 24-hour emergency services and everyday essential health care to thousands of Australians who live, work or travel in remote and rural regions.

For example, in July 2011 an engineer in the power generation industry, highly respected by the Energen Solutions team, fell seriously ill at a remote site in Carnarvon, Western Australia, the RFDS responded quickly flying the man 1,000kms to the Royal Perth Hospital where he received life-saving surgery. Those involved extended a special thanks to the RFDS — without whom the patient would not have survived.

SPEL Puraceptor two-chamber, full retention oil/water separator is made of fibreglass and can be configured to suit your project.

Energen Solutions provided this type of system for the Brisbane City Hall. The SPEL Puraceptor Class 1 used for this site was configured to capture 1,300 litres of transformer oil and treat stormwater runoff in an alleyway, 1.2 metres wide and 3 metres deep.

To provide the solution for this problem, we utilized our smallest unit at 900mm wide and lengthened it to 3,000 mm long so that we could effectively capture the anticipated max spill and treat the stormwater. This modified Puraceptor slotted neatly under the transformer to create an aesthetically pleasing project.

Energen Solutions installed a SPEL Stormceptor Class 1 three-chamber by-pass separator (Model S 400-300.CI.3C.SP.PS) at the Courier Mail office and print house in Brisbane Queensland to enable the company to utilise storm water runoff from the site (including the car park) for use in their cooling towers.

Biogas-fuelled gas engine generators can produce approximately four times more electricity than traditional boiler steam turbines.

However, the hydrogen sulphide component of biogas causes extensive damage to gas engine parts. Acid formation and sulphide damage shorten maintenance intervals making it difficult to achieve optimal equipment performance.

As a Brisbane-based company, Energen Solutions took a special interest in the plight of Queenslanders affected by the floods that devastated the area in late December 2010 and early January 2011 and by Tropical Cyclone Yasi.

With three quarters of the state declared a disaster zone, the Energen Solutions team was eager to assist and the company responded to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal by donating $20,000.

Further to this, the Energen – SE Power Group worked as a team to assist flood victims to power, clean and repair their homes. Our team members were also heavily involved in a wider community monetary appeal — successfully raising over 1.4million dollars!

The 2009 “Black Saturday” firestorm in Victoria claimed 173 lives, destroyed over 1,800 homes and burned more than 400,000 hectares of regional Victoria’s landscape. The impact of this tragic event exceeded both the 1983 Ash Wednesday and 1939 Black Friday fires.

Out of concern for the unprecedented devastation and destruction wrought by this disaster, the Energen Solutions purchased copies of the book, entitled Firestorm, Black Saturday’s Tragedy, making a $7,425 contribution to the FIRESTORM fundraising initiative.

The initiative raises funds to support the CFA of the 2009 Victorian bushfire disaster by selling a tragically beautiful illustrated book.

100% of the profits from book sales are used to support individual CFA stations in the “Firestorm” area to assist them in the purchase of essential equipment to prevent a recurrence of this devastating event.

Team Energen successfully completed the challenging MS Fundraising Brissie to the Bay Bike Ride again this year.

The bike ride, held on Sunday 26 June 2011, is an annual event to raise funds for people affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS). MS is the most common disease of the central nervous system and affects more than 18,000 Australians.

The event covered a hilly, gruelling 100km, but our energetic team of riders gave it their all. Richard, Tracey and Steve all completed the course in under four hours, saw parts of Brisbane’s bayside that they hadn’t seen before and raised $1,360 for MS in the process.

We wish to thank all our sponsors for your generous donations towards this worthy cause and we look forward to participating in next year’s event.
